Ways to help

1) Funding partnerships: Become a Saint Louise House funding partner with a one-time gift or setup recurring contributions and be our partner in providing housing and essential services to homeless mothers and children; help them overcome homelessness and forever break the cycle of poverty. You can setup a monthly recurring gift or donate via credit card securely through our here.

2) Toiletry and Household item drive: Organize an in-kind donation drive and collection for Saint Louise House of Walmart or HEB gift cards, baby wipes, small bottles laundry detergent (HE and non-HE), dishwasher detergent, dish soap, baby shampoo, children’s toothpaste & children’s toothbrushes, Fabuloso all-purpose cleaner, kitchen sponges and new spray bottles.

3) Celebration funding partnership: organize a collection for Saint Louise House within your department or group for special SLH events/holidays and help contribute to the foods, décor, or items for Saint Louise House moms and kids.

4) Volunteer: Donate your time and efforts to help Saint Louise House. Whether it be a weekly, monthly, or special project commitment, your support and commitment to our families and our mission is greatly appreciated. From birthday cakes, to storage inventory, data entry, food bank delivery, and everything in between, you all help us keep Saint Louise House families safe, supported, and cared for. Special Projects Volunteer Opportunities

NEEDED: Salesforce Volunteer

Support the volunteer coordinator by inputting donations into our donor database, sending Thank You cards, etc. Can be weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly. Prior experience with Salesforce not required, but someone good with technology would be ideal.

Time commitment: Flexible

Apartment Set-up Volunteer Group

Transform an empty apartment—with donated furnishings and household items—into a warm, welcoming home for a Saint Louise House family. Normally 5-8 individuals needed.

Time commitment: Flexible

Furniture Transport

Pick up furniture donations and take them to the Saint Louise House storage unit and/or transport furniture from the storage unit to a new apartment in preparation for the apartment set-up.

Time commitment: Flexible, weekdays preferred

Welcome Meal Volunteer

Provide a simple homemade meal and welcome card for Saint Louise House families for their first night in their new apartment.

Time commitment: Flexible and varies depending on need

Donation Drive Volunteer (Special)

In conjunction with your church, organization, community, school, scout group or friends coordinate a donation drive for much needed household and seasonal items.

Time commitment: Flexible

Facilities/Maintenance Volunteer (Special Groups)

Work closely with Saint Louise House Facilities Manager to repair, paint and refurbish apartments. Duties will depend on project.

Time commitment: Flexible

Special Projects

In collaboration with Saint Louise House Staff determine larger one-time project opportunities (great for groups or organizations!).

Weekly Volunteer Opportunities

Storage Organization

Volunteers organize incoming donations and take regular inventory of each unit or assigned unit.

Time commitment: Flexible daytime office hours.

Volunteer Shopper

  • Office (Bi-Weekly)
  • Resident Support (Weekly)

Provide support to Saint Louise House staff by handling shopping needs for office supplies, move-ins and resident support needs.

Time commitment: Flexible daytime office hours

Central Texas Food Bank Volunteer (Weekly)

Provide support to Saint Louise House program office, by picking up orders from the Capital Area Food Bank once a month for approximately 1.5 hours.

Time commitment: once per month on Fridays or Wednesdays. Flexible daytime hours.

Administrative Office Volunteer (Daily/Weekly)

Provide support to the executive director, director of volunteer services working in the administrative office.

Time commitment: Flexible daytime office hours

Program Office Volunteer (Weekly)

Provide support to case managers working in the program office. Program office volunteers will interact with program participants regularly. This volunteer opportunity requires a higher commitment level and additional training.

Time commitment: Commit to a minimum of 6 months of volunteer time for at least 12 hours a month during office hours. The preference is for the volunteer in this role to come in for three to four hours a week.

Additional training: Complete 12 hours of training with program director in three to four sessions.

Childcare Volunteer (Weekly/Thursday night)

Provide support to Saint Louise House staff by assisting with structured activities for the children and youth of Saint Louise House. (Volunteers must be 18+.)

Time commitment: Thursday evenings from 5:45-7:15 p.m. Childcare site is located in south Austin.

Flowers (Bi-weekly – 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month)

Volunteers arrange fresh flowers for every resident that wishes to participate in this special program, on a first-come first-served basis.

Time commitment: Flexible daytime hours.

Recycling (Weekly and Bi-weekly)

  • Austin main location (Weekly)
    • Pick up recycling from program office and behind storage shed.
  • Austin 2nd location (Bi-Weekly)
    • Pick up recycling twice every month to drop off at EcoAction


Time commitment: Flexible daytime hours.

Utility Assistance Volunteer (Bi-Weekly)

St. Austin 2nd and 4th Friday of each month 9am-12pm

The Customer Assistance Program (CAP) is Austin Energy’s method for providing utility assistance. Annual funds are given to area agencies and churches to assist members of the community with their utility bill. As one of these agencies, Saint Louise House is looking for volunteers to assist staff in providing this needed service. The program is open to our Austin community and our volunteer provides event support (voucher, performs interviews, coffee, set-up etc.).

Time commitment: Volunteer for at least 3-6 months on a rotating basis on Friday mornings.

Monthly Volunteer Opportunities

Birthday Cake Volunteer (Monthly)

Provide support to Saint Louise House program office by providing homemade or store-bought birthday cakes for Saint Louise House mothers and their children.

Time commitment: Flexible and varies depending on need.
