Saint Louise House offers women in my position a chance to become the women they were always meant to be, and gives their children a chance to thrive.
Gina’s Story
Gina, a domestic abuse survivor, and her children spent years without stable housing, staying at shelters, hotels, with friends and co-workers. They had moved around so much over a several year period that her older son, who had significant mental health needs, had attended 13 schools by ninth grade. After a year on the waiting list, they were finally able to move into Saint Louise House and find the stability they needed to focus on their health.
With the flexible financial assistance provided by the Saint Louise House program, Gina was able to access the medication and counseling she needed to treat her mental health diagnosis and move forward with her life. With the help of her Empowerment Partner, a professional social worker, she was able to connect her son to appropriate treatment services and support him in his efforts to pass his GED exam and earn his high school equivalency certificate. This son is now the first in his family to attend college.
Gina and her children graduated from Saint Louise House to an affordable apartment with the skills and knowledge to maintain their growth, progress, and stability for the long-term.
